Tracit360 Tracking Medical Devices

Why is Tracit360 beneficial for tracking medical devices?

Many hospitals still rely on manual methods to track their assets, such as log books and barcode scanning. In an industry where time is critical, upgrading outdated asset-tracking processes becomes more efficient with our automated barcode and RFID solutions.

Our Tracit360 technology promotes a Hybrid Technology Solution.  Analysing the medical devices and the current technology within the hospital and ensuring each area is provided with the best solution, we will recommend the right technology, for the right application, in the right location.

The importance of tracking hospital assets on a larger, more automated scale provides a better patient experience, as staff have a constant record of any medical devices a patient needs, driving efficiencies by saving time locating missing devices. Each category of medical device requires tracking capabilities for patient needs, it is our job at Bar Code Data to find the right solution for each environment.

Our RFID solution

Using a mix of active and passive RFID technology, we offer a secure and cost-effective solution for tracking medical devices. Passive RFID tags are variable in size, low cost, and require no battery, making them GS1 compatible and optionally human-readable. They offer flexibility in accuracy through the combination of mobile and fixed RFID readers.

Active RFID technology uses BLE sensors/beacons, connected to network infrastructure, such as Cisco Spaces, to track high-risk, high-dependency items and their status for compliance purposes.

The benefits of tracking medical devices:

1. Device RegistrationBarcodes and RFID help in efficient data entry into device registries.

2. Relevant AllotmentSet up inventory or equipment to relevant departments per their utilisation and discard ratio.

3. Accurate Device InformationThe entry of accurate device information is necessary for medical records to reduce the burden on nurses and improve accuracy in the use of medical devices etc.

4. Medical SafetyMedical safety is necessary to avoid the use of an incorrect device or outdated device. This can be achieved by the proper use of medical device labels.

5. Device MaintenanceProper device maintenance ensures items are calibrated and conform to compliance mandates, fully integrated with host systems to cross-check with logs and registers, generating notifications and alerts for inspection dates.

6. Sterilisation of DevicesThe management of devices used in Sterile Services is as essential as the maintenance of the devices themselves. Tracking of instruments used in theatres identifies the equipment used in the surgical process, helping support improved patient safety, and providing an accurate audit trail in the process.
