As our Charity of Choice, Willow Wood Hospice is an organisation we are incredibly proud to support.
Members of our team recently visited the hospice to learn more about its work across Tameside and Glossop and to see first-hand the range of care, services and support it provides to patients, families and the wider community.
Much More Than End-of-Life Care
Willow Wood provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care, supporting people with dignity, compassion and kindness at one of the most difficult times in their lives, while also providing invaluable support to their families and loved ones.
However, one of the most important messages Willow Wood wants to share is that the hospice provides so much more.
Its services extend well beyond end-of-life care, with a strong focus on helping people live as well as possible and supporting families, carers and people throughout the local community.
This includes its Dementia Café and dementia support services, counselling and bereavement support, wellbeing services and a range of complementary therapies including Reiki, reflexology, massage and aromatherapy.
A Place Designed Around People
Another important part of Willow Wood is the environment itself.
The hospice’s beautiful gardens provide peaceful outdoor spaces where patients and families can spend valuable time together, while activities, community initiatives and events throughout the year all contribute to creating a warm and welcoming environment.
Behind all of this is an incredible team of staff and volunteers whose care, commitment and compassion can be seen throughout the hospice.
We would also like to thank Joanne Lees, Partnership Development Lead at Willow Wood, for taking the time to show us around and help us understand more about the breadth of support the hospice provides.
Supporting Willow Wood in More Ways Than One
Our support for Willow Wood will include fundraising, raising awareness of the services it provides and getting involved in initiatives that bring the local community together.
One of those initiatives is the Willow Wood Enterprise Challenge, which returns for the 2026/27 academic year. The challenge brings together schools, colleges and youth groups across Tameside and Glossop, encouraging young people to develop their creativity, teamwork and business skills while raising vital funds for the hospice. Participating teams are given seed funding and challenged to turn their ideas into fundraising projects, with local businesses able to support the programme through sponsorship and mentoring.
Bar Code Data is proud to be supporting this year’s Enterprise Challenge and helping an initiative that not only raises funds for Willow Wood, but also gives young people valuable experience and confidence.
Willow Wood plays an incredibly important role within the Tameside and Glossop community, but providing this level of care and support relies heavily on fundraising and the generosity of individuals, organisations and local businesses.
