What are ATEX Certified Devices
ATEX-certified devices are designed for use in areas where an explosive atmosphere could form due to flammable gases, vapours or combustible dust.
Hazardous locations are divided into zones according to how frequently an explosive atmosphere may be present:
Zone 0 or 20: Present continuously or for long periods
Zone 1 or 21: Likely to occur during normal operation
Zone 2 or 22: Unlikely to occur and present only briefly
ATEX equipment is also classified by protection level, with Category 1 intended for the highest-risk zones, Category 2 for areas where explosive atmospheres are likely, and Category 3 for areas where they are unlikely to occur.
The selected device must carry the correct certification for the specific zone and working environment.

Helping You Choose the Right Device
Choosing an ATEX device involves more than selecting a rugged mobile computer. The correct solution depends on the hazardous-area classification, application, connectivity and working conditions.

Bar Code Data can help with:
• Product and certification selection
• Barcode scanning requirements
• Device configuration and deployment
• Mobile Device Management
• Accessories and charging
• Support and lifecycle management
